Marilyn Davis, 91, formerly of Mesa, AZ, passed away at her home in Burke, Virginia, on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
Marilyn Porter Davis was born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 8th, 1932 to Theodore Owen Porter and Mary Fish Porter. She had an older brother, Kenneth Earl Porter, and a younger brother, Leonard Ross Porter. She was preceded by husband Charles Davis, and sons Gregory and Barry Davis. She leaves behind daughters, Charlynn Sholtis, and Angela McKee.
She lived a life full of music, playing a multitude of woodwinds, strings, piano, and organ. Her family orchestra performed western music for the Phoenix area for over a decade, and toured across the US. Following her graduation from Arizona State University, she married Charles, and the two eventually made their way to Virginia. There she raised four children, and served as a mother-figure for countless piano students for decades. Her service in the Church of Later Day Saints was also long-lived, both behind the keys and in front of them.
A graveside service to honor Ms. Davis' life will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 11th at the Polly Ann Davis Cemetery, Harkers Island, NC.
