Marietta Sappelt

Marietta Sappelt, 72, of New Bern, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at her home.

A memorial service to honor Marietta’s will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through their obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

Marietta was born on December 24,1952, in the Philippines, to the late Manuel and Rosalia Lozada Bolneo. She married the love of her life, Thomas, and together they shared 47 wonderful years filled with love and devotion. Marietta was known for her lively spirit and boundless energy. She was always on the move, whether it was shopping (especially for anything red, her favorite color in every shade), cooking up something delicious in her kitchen, or playing her favorite game of bingo.

Marietta’s home was always a place of warmth and generosity; no one ever left without a plate of food, a gift, or a piece of her heart. She was incredibly proud of her grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life. Rarely would a conversation pass without her sharing stories of their accomplishments and milestones. She spoke her mind freely, lived life on her own terms, and encouraged others to do the same. Though she has left this world, her love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will continue to live on in all who knew her.

Those left to treasure her memory are her loving husband, Thomas Sappelt of the home; daughters, Rosalia Sappelt Simpson (David) of Vanceboro, NC, Elizabeth Thompson of Maryland; son, Carlos Bloneo (Heidi); and grandchildren, Isaiah, Brayden, Davianna, D’Mari, Trinity, Carley, Noah, and Luke.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.
