Maria J. Smith, 64, of Newport, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at her home.
She is survived by her dearest friend, Michael Doyle of Atlantic Beach; two daughters, Michelle Smith and Francine Smith-Beyer both of Newport; son, James Smith, Jr. of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren, Kara Anne O'Connor, Nadiya Beyer, Kendra Beyer, Brandon Hodge, Breanna Ambrus, Arianna Smith, Jaydon Smith and James Paul Smith, III; beloved sister, Gladys Flores of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, James Smith.
The family will receive friends 4:00 - 6:00 pm Thursday, December 22, 2011 at her place of residence, 215 Spruce Pine Drive in Newport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr, Greenville, NC 27834.
