Margaret Gilmore Grant

Margaret Gilmore Grant, 90, formerly of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2025, at the Carteret Landing Nursing Home in Morehead City.

Margaret was born on December 30, 1934. A native of Alamance County and a graduate of Key West High School she was the daughter of the late Robert Samuel Gilmore and the late Minnie Lee Waddell and the wife of the late Roy Grant.

She cherished her family and friends and was well known for her love of cooking for all of them.

Margaret is survived by her loving children, her daughter, Terri Grant Spence and sons, Stephen Eric Grant, and Roy R. Grant (Debbie); her beloved grandchildren, Amy Spence Manners (Bob) and David Hunter Spence (Hannah); and her greatest joy, her great grandchildren, Kaylea Elizabeth Manners, Reagan Mclane Spence and Grant Michael Spence.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Rainey, Mary Smith, and Mildred Forrester and brothers, Gurney Gilmore, J. Cecil Gilmore, Ben H. Gilmore, K. Aubrey Gilmore and N.M. Gilmore.

There will be a private celebration of her and life for the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Gentiva Hospice, at P.O. Box 245, Swansboro NC 28584 or the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter, 100 Wild Life Way, Newport, NC 28570.
