Margaret Willis
English
August 25, 1931 – March 18, 2026
Margaret Willis English, 94, of Morehead City, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House. The family will celebrate Margaret's life privately.
Margaret was born in Hoke County, NC, to the late Mary Ruth Monroe and Neil A Willis. In 1960, she married her lifelong love, Marvin English, and shortly after they relocated to Clarksville, VA, where they started their family. The family moved to Morehead City, NC, in 1972 when Marvin began working for Conner Mobile Homes. Margaret and Marvin would remain sweethearts until he passed away in 2023.
Margaret was a beautiful person, inside and out, and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and unwavering faith. She was active in the First Presbyterian Church until her health began to decline. She enjoyed the time she spent at church and especially with her ladies’ circle group.
For most of her life and even until her later years, Margaret was always a competitive athlete. When the family moved to Morehead City, she was bitten by the golf bug. After much coaching and patience from Marvin, Margaret won the ladies club championship for 8 years at the Morehead City Country Club. In 1999, she was voted as one of the 100 best athletes of the year by the Carteret New Times. Many of her favorite memories and friendships over the years were made on the golf course.
Being a mother was Margaret's greatest calling in life. She was always present in her children's lives as they were growing up attending all school functions, plays and sporting events. To her daughter's embarrassment, Margaret was always that one parent you could hear above all others in the stands as she cheered on her children.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter and caregiver, Sandra English. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Nichole English, granddaughter, Curren English, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to many family members over the years, Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin, and sons Michael and Glenn.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Margaret's caregivers, Donna Howard, Alisa Lawrence and Wanda Behan. In addition, for the many meals and visits over the years, the family is extremely thankful for Margaret's neighbor Claudia Sulloway. Lastly, the family owes a great deal of thanks and appreciation to the 3HC Hospice team who cared for Margaret with such compassion over the past 2 years.
