Lindsay Warren Knight, 86, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at his home.
A funeral service to honor Lindsay’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 29th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Eric Dougherty. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends the evening prior, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, November 28th at Munden Funeral Home. Born on January 28, 1939, in Pantego, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Daniel Watson Knight and Lena Olivia Harris Knight. Lindsay proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he exhibited dedication and commitment to his country, ultimately retiring from the Air Force Reserves with the distinguished rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling career as an Aircraft Mechanic with Civil Service at Cherry Point.
A man of deep faith, Lindsay was a devoted member of Cherry Point Church of Christ, where he enjoyed his church family. Lindsay’s legacy is one of service, integrity, and commitment, and he will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Mark Alan Knight of Newport; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Knight of Newport; sisters, Margaret Harris of Bath, NC and Eileen Massie Knight of Virginia; 4 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and his sidekick, his dog, Duke.
In addition to his parents, Lindsay was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Knight; sons, Lindsay Watson Knight and Harold Alex Knight; daughter-in-law, Becky Canady Knight; brothers, Matthew Knight, Daniel Vernon Knight, and William Woodrow Knight.
