Obituary

Leo Barrington “Barry” Page Sr. 85, of Ocean, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on August 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy rooted in faith, family, and an unwavering work ethic.

A funeral service to honor Barry’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 25th, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Norm Waligora. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Barry was born in Beulaville, North Carolina, and at just two months old moved to the coast, where he was raised in Ocean, his mother’s home place by tenant farming parents, Willie and Lucille Page. One of five boys, Barry grew up in a close-knit family alongside many cousins he always considered siblings. Those early bonds shaped his lifelong devotion to hard work, loyalty, and community.

He graduated from Swansboro High School in 1960 and began working that same year as a longshoreman at the Morehead City Port, where he remained until his retirement in 1990. In addition to his work at the port, Barry founded L.B. Page Landscaping in 1960, a business that became far more than a livelihood—it was a true passion. Barry took great pride in his work, finding purpose in working the land, building something with his own hands, and serving his community with integrity. The business allowed him to teach family members and others the value of dedication and hard work. Barry and his family were deeply thankful for the many devoted employees, past and present, of L.B. Page Landscaping, who stood by him through the years and were not just coworkers, but family.

In the early 1960s, long before the bridge was built and access required a ferry, Barry was among those who helped develop Emerald Isle. He witnessed and contributed to the area’s growth, seeing its transformation more fully than any generation before him.

Barry married the love of his life, June Dare Taylor Page, in 1963 at their home church, Sound View. They worshiped there faithfully until moving to Faith Bible Church in the late 1970s where they were devoted members for the remainder their lives and where they made lifelong friends and were able to grow in their unwavering love of God.

In the late 1980s, Barry and his brother Herbert founded Worthy of the Lamb Amphitheater, which ran for 15 years and was enjoyed by many who traveled from near and far to see the production.

Barry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Barrington Page Jr. (wife Debbie); his brothers, Archie Page (wife Polly) and Dewitt Page (wife Brenda); four granddaughters, Heather Johnson (husband Bobby), Lena Shackleford (husband Bryan), Catherine Dawson (husband Joey), and Jamie Brown; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife June, his daughter Millicent Nadine Page, and his brother Herbert Page.

Above all, Barry was a father figure and mentor to many beyond his own family. His steady guidance, generous spirit, and example of hard work and faith will be remembered by all who were blessed to know him
