Laurence Hughes Major Jr.

Laurence Hughes Major Jr., 81, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Cherry Point Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on November 3, 1943, in Beaver, Pennsylvania, Laurence was the beloved son of the late Laurence and Ruth Major. He honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a distinguished veteran of the Vietnam War.

Laurence was a dedicated alumnus of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, where he laid the groundwork for a successful career as a financial analyst with General Accident Insurance in Philadelphia.

In his free time, Laurence enjoyed being on the green playing a round of golf. He was also an avid fan of country music, attending numerous concerts throughout his years.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Ann Major (Mara DuBois) of New Hope, PA and his brother, Martin Major (Patricia) of Syracuse, NY.
