With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Murray, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran and family man. He passed away on June 24th, 2026, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and unforgettable memories.
A funeral service to honor Larry's life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 29th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Chaplain Wesley Holmes. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home's website.
Larry served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, carrying the values of courage, discipline, and resilience long after his time in uniform. Tough as nails and never one to back down, he faced life head-on with grit, determination, and a stubborn streak that those who loved him came to admire.
But beyond that toughness was a heart fully devoted to family. Larry loved deeply and had a way of bringing laughter wherever he went, always ready with a joke or a story to share. He cherished being surrounded by those he loved, finding his greatest joy in their company. Larry was the kind of man who made you feel safe-steady in hard times and unwavering in his support-never letting the people in his life forget how much they meant to him. His sharp mind and wide-ranging knowledge kept everyone on their toes, and he had a remarkable knack for recalling actors and actresses from his favorite old movies. In his quieter moments, he found peace in tending to his garden and taking pride in decorating the walls of his home, leaving touches of himself in every corner.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon Murray; his sons, Jeff Murray (Julie), Chris Murray (Shari); his daughters, Lisa Laarman and Angi Jackson (Terry); his grandchildren, Ashli Culpepper (Kody), Ty Laarman (Samantha), Tanner Murray, Gunnar Murray, Keegan Murray, and Skylar Murray; great-granddaughter, Memphis Culpepper; sisters, Nan Yeager (Gerald) and Sharyn Miles; and many nieces, nephews and other family members who will carry his memory forward with pride and love.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katelyn Laarman; grandson, Shayne Laarman; mother, Eva Jean Murray; father, James Murray; brother, Rusty Murray; and sisters, Jan Payne and Roseanne Strickland.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.
