Larry Stephen Marshall, 79, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Larry was born on May 20, 1946, in Stokesdale, NC, to the late Fred Marshall and Rachel Edwards. He was a loving husband of 49 years, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Army who bravely fought in the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Following the military, Larry worked as a planner and estimator at Cherry Point for 32 years. He went to work two hours early every day to make coffee for all his co-workers. Larry was also known for his skill and talent in the carpentry field.

In his free time, Larry loved fishing and golfing, he was an avid reader and was well known for cooking a big batch of Brunswick Stew every year.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Alexia Dawn Way of Morehead City, NC; sons, Terry Way and wife Donna of Kinston, NC, Thomas Way and wife Elizabeth of Asheville, NC and Jeffrey Marshall of Morehead City, NC; sister, Jean Jessup of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Alex Way, Travis Marshall, Shawn Marshall, Taylor Way, Katie Way, Shelby Way, and Jessica Brown; great-grandchild, Bonnie Marshall; cousin, Cecil Rumley; and his furry companions, Bear and Frankie.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Ann Sleight Marshall; sister, Sara Ann; and his beloved dog, Sheba.

Larry was proud to donate to St. Judes Children Hospital and the Wounded Warriors Project. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
