Kuniko Otsu Kiraly, 92, of Havelock, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh.

Kuniko was born on January 27, 1934, in Japan, to the late Fumio Otsu. She was proud of her heritage and carried her Japanese culture with grace and honor throughout her life. Kuniko also shared her lifelong devotion to her Japanese faith. She shared that pride with those around her through her traditions, her cooking, and the love she poured into her family.

Kuniko cherished spending time with her loved ones, sharing stories around the table with them. She also loved playing Bingo and had a gift for music spending many happy hours playing the piano. Kuniko delighted in shopping and had a special talent for finding a great bargain, which she loved. May she be remembered for her loving heart, her gentle spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and cared for.

Those left to treasure her memory are her daughters, Karen Yuki Kiraly Barnett (Paul) of Jacksonville, Fl., Kathryn Kuniko Kiraly of Cary, N.C., sons, Kenneth “Pete” John Kiraly (Tammy) of Havelock, N.C., Keven “Max” Douglas Kiraly of Havelock, N.C.; grandchildren, Jennifer Kiraly Walter (Vernon) of Havelock, N.C., Darren John Kiraly of Havelock, N.C., Jessica Kiraly Davidson (Cullen) of Newport, N.C.; and great grandchildren, Noah John Walter and Elijah Stone Walter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Kiraly; brothers, Masazumi and Takazumi Otsu, and 1 sister.
