Kevin Brooks

March 12, 1956 — November 1, 2023

Morehead City

Kevin Brooks, 67, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at his home.

A funeral service to honor Kevin's life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 4th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Morehead City, officiated by Brooks Pace. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Kevin was born on March 12, 1956, in Sea Level, North Carolina, to Henry and Mattie Brooks. Growing up on Harkers Island, he loved island life and especially enjoyed going to Shell Point to look over at Cape Lookout.

Having devoted 36 years of his life to civil service, Kevin retired from Cherry Point, where he skillfully served as a sheet metal mechanic. His dedication and commitment to his work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers.

Kevin's free time revolved around whichever sports event was in season. His favorite teams included the Duke Blue Devils, the Cleveland Indians, and the Dallas Cowboys and he wholeheartedly cheered them on. NASCAR races were just as fascinating, and he was always on the edge of his seat, thrilled by the intense speed.

Kevin was a kind and caring man who appreciated the simple and uncomplicated way of life. He had a constant love for his family and was grateful for their love and support, which meant the world to him.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 41 years, Pam Brooks; daughter, Morgan Whaley and husband Shane of Cedar Point; son, Trent Brooks and wife Kristen of Atlanta, GA; mother, Mattie Brooks of Morehead City; sister, Kara Matthews and husband Matt of Newport; brother, Ashley Brooks and wife Shannon of Newport; granddaughter, Brooklynne Whaley; along with his nephew, several nieces and cousins.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Henry Allen Brooks; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Nettie Brooks; and maternal grandparents, Herbert and Thelma Davis.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.
