Kenneth Wayne Virkler, 68, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Carteret Health Care surrounded by those he loved.

Kenneth was born on September 22, 1958, in Wareham, Massachusetts, to the late Albert Virkler and Margaret Westgate. He was a proud father to Justin Virkler and a loving partner of over 23 years to Lorrie Elwell.

A master carpenter by trade Kenneth took great pride in his work and over the years taught several others the craft. In his free time he enjoyed riding and working on his Harley as well as shooting the breeze with just about anybody who'd listen; always the life of the party he never missed an opportunity to crack a joke. Kenneth had a heart of gold who touched the lives of many with his generous and loving spirit, he will be dearly missed.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Justin Virkler; fiancée, Lorrie Elwell; mother, Margaret Westgate; brothers, Michael Virkler, Todd Westgate, and Keldon Westgate; and sisters, Elizabeth Leon and Stacy Westgate.

In addition to his father, Kenneth was preceded in death by his brothers, Phillip Virkler, Kerrin Westgate; and sister Deborah Virkler.
