Judy Lynn Delzer (Spears) 79 of Havelock North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep, on 07/31/2026.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cherry Point Baptist Church in Havelock, & an Inurnment of her ashes will be performed at the plot of her family in Arkansas. Both will be announced at a later date.
Judy was born in Porterville California, however the daughter of a Minister and church builder for the Assemblies of God, Judy grew up in many different states including Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas which she called her second home. The 5th Daughter of Rev. Burney Spears and Cecil (Carlisle), and sister to Joyce, Macey Joel (or Joe a second Mother to Judy), Jessy, and her brother Jerry, all of whom have preceded her into the Kingdom of the Lord.
"We got Love," "Our problems are solving themselves," "Oh yeah," "There's nothing that God can't fix," and "I'd like to pray for you," are among her noted sayings. She would, often when on outings, find strangers to pray for. A Prayer Warrior, Judy was someone many called upon for prayer and guidance, her Former Pastor in California Rev. Phillip H. Stewart once said, "When Sister Judy prays, all of heaven listens." Although Judy loved to read especially the Bible, she also enjoyed singing and did so in choirs in churches throughout her life, fellowship with family and friends over food telling stories; her absolute favorite and was often caught 'grazing' she would say, "I'm a grazer," upon a charcuterie board.
Judy's greatest joy was her two sons, David and Darrin, whom she was very proud of and their biggest cheerleader. She will be fondly remembered and profoundly missed, she was an amazing mother; the guardian of their dreams, love and peace, the Pillar of Autumn to her boy's.
Judy had worked several jobs from going to beautician school to learn haircuts and makeup, but she worked in diverse fields such as a cashier, secretarial work, locksmith, and data entry for a commercial real estate company.
She also worked at the former Oakland Coliseum in CA in the 1970's, as an events usher where she had the great pleasure of meeting famous people. Her personal favorites were Willie Nelson, Freddie Mercury, Bob Seger, David Bowie, The Original Raiders Team and Rev. Billy Graham. Also, her favorites were being a homemaker and mom as well as a Sunday School teacher for children, being a great storyteller, she loved the retelling of Bible stories to children who loved her energy and sense of humor.
Judy is survived by her sons and "daughters-in-love", as she called them: David (Rachel), and Darrin (Michelle); grandchildren: Austin (Jessica), Leah, and Megan (Aaron), & great grandchild: Olivia (Austin/Jessica).
