Judith “Judy” Guthrie Conner, 91, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service to honor Judy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 17, at Franklin Memorial Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Ron Gurganus. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Judy will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Judy was born on December 9, 1934, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Rufus and Alice Guthrie. She was a beautiful Christian woman whose faith was a guiding part of her life and who always seemed to have a song in her heart. Music brought her great joy, and she especially loved singing in the choir and sharing her gift of playing the piano. She was a faithful and devoted member of Franklin Memorial Methodist Church, where her love for her church and her faith were evident to all who knew her.

Judy’s natural organizational abilities and strong computer skills served her well throughout her working years. She took great pride in her work as a secretary and was especially honored to serve as the church secretary at First Baptist Church in Morehead City.

One of Judy’s favorite hobbies was ceramics, where she found a wonderful outlet for her creativity. She took great joy in the beautiful pieces she created, each reflecting her artistic talent and thoughtful attention to detail.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, John Thomas Conner III (Debbie) of Stella, NC, David Allen Conner (Becky) of Mill Creek, NC and Timothy Ray “Boom Boom” Conner (Theresa) of Morehead City, NC; sister, Cassie Stead (Dean Arnold) of Morehead City, NC; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Thomas Conner II and her sister, Kay Pittman.
