Joseph C. "Joe" Willis Jr., 61, of Harkers Island, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Pruitt Health Care.

A funeral service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 21st at Refuge Fellowship Church, officiated by Rev. Manley B. Rose Jr. and Rev. Jack Mumford. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Joe was born on December 27, 1964, in Morehead City, NC, to Joseph C. "Kikie" Willis Sr. and Sandra K. Willis.

Joe had a lifelong love for motorcycles, a passion that began in his childhood and remained with him throughout his life. In his younger years, he enjoyed trips to the banks, playing basketball and baseball, and spending time camping and traveling to the mountains.

In later years, Joe found comfort and strength in his faith and came to trust deeply in God. He greatly enjoyed the visits from friends and loved ones during his time at Pruitt Health Care, especially the fellowship and special singing shared by those who came to spend time with him.

Joe is survived by his loving mother, Sandra K. Willis; his son, Davin Willis; his daughter, Kayla Taylor; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph C. "Kikie" Willis Sr.; his grandparents, Sadie and Joe Willis, and Sammie and Lina Willis; along with several aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Pruitt Health Care for the love, compassion, and care shown to Joe throughout his stay.
