Johnnie Manley Willis

Johnnie Manley Willis, 80, of Gloucester, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A funeral service to honor Johnnie’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, June 27th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Manley Rose. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

Johnnie was born on January 11, 1945, in Sea Level, NC, to the late Johnny and Ada Willis. He was a hardworking man who made his living as a commercial fisherman. Even when he wasn’t working, he enjoyed being on the water and casting a line always ready for the next big catch. A dedicated NASCAR fan, Johnnie also enjoyed watching a good football game.

Above all, Johnnie enjoyed spending time with the family. Those remaining include his sons, Mark Morton (Tara Asdenti) of Morehead City and Daniel “Danny” Willis of Gloucester; grandchildren, Ashley Morton, Emilie Morton, Brooklyn Morton, Travis Morgan, and Logan Kreager; and great-grandchildren, Mei Barnes and Levi Barnes.

In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Deborah Morton Willis; daughter, Cynthia Willis Kreager; and son, John Kenneth Willis.
