Johnnie William Gaskill

Johnnie William Gaskill, 81, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Pruitt Health - Crystal Coast.

A funeral service to honor Johnnie’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 22nd at Refuge Fellowship Church, officiated by Rev. Manley B. Rose Jr. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Johnnie was born on January 31, 1944, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Johnny and Elsie Mae Gaskill. His love for the Lord was always the foundation and strength of his life. Johnnie was a devoted member of Refuge Fellowship Church, where he treasured the bonds he formed with his church family. Johnnie also enjoyed fellowshipping with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Harkers Island.

Working as a caregiver the majority of his life, Johnnie had a genuine love and concern for people. He never met a stranger and always made everyone feel welcome. Johnnie always had something interesting to talk about and never missed an opportunity to chat with a friend.

In his free time, Johnnie enjoyed researching his family history, dedicating countless hours to genealogy. He also appreciated the beauty of flowers and was known for his talent in floral arrangement.

Johnnie will be remembered as a loving uncle to his family including his nephew, Stephon Gaskill (Laura Clark); great niece, Haley Gaskill; and great nephew, Ashton Gaskill.

In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Mae Stidam, and his beloved pet, Chloe.
