Joan Louise Johnson

Joan Louise Johnson, 94, died November 28, 2025, at her home in New Bern, NC.

Joan was born in Richmond, Virginia on January 17,1931, to the late Harry Edgar Helbig and Virginia Cummings Helbig. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond and James Madsion College in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Joan is survived by her son, George Ray Johnson, III of New Bern, NC; her daughter, Virginia Killinger and her husband, Keith of Beaufort, NC; granddaughter, Blair Kelly and her husband, Marshall; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Grey of Denver, NC; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, George Ray Johnson, Jr.; her sister, Virginia Mae Collins; and her brother-in-law, Jack Collins of Clearwater, Florida.

It was her wish that there be no final services. Her ashes will be buried at a later date.
