Jerry Rita Brunton, 94, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Jerry was born on April 22, 1931, in Marysville, Ohio, to the late Alfred and Erma Jolliff. A woman of strength and quiet determination, she proudly served her country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, an experience that remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Jerry dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. She believed deeply in treating the whole person, embracing holistic approaches to healing long before they became widely recognized. She began her career in hospitals, where she developed her skills and compassion, and later found her true calling in home health. There, she formed meaningful connections and became a trusted source of comfort and care for countless families.

Over 20 years ago, Jerry made her home in North Carolina, where she enjoyed the beauty and peace of coastal living.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathleen Mascari of Mt. Vernon, OH; sons, Mike Grimes (Darla) of St. Petersburg, FL, Tom Grimes and Pat Grimes, both of Seminole, FL, and Tim Grimes of Morehead City, NC; sister, Jo Esta Whipple of Columbus, OH; and grandchildren, Cameron Grimes, Clayton Grimes, Chloe Grimes, and Cory Grimes.

In addition to her parents, Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, Norm Brunton; sister, Joy Murphy and brother, Bud Jolliff.
