Jean Sparks Freeman, 60, of Morehead City, passed away at her home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at her home.

A graveside service to honor Jean’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 25, at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Jack Mumford.

Jean was born on April 27, 1966, in Morehead City, N.C. to Reed A. Sparks Sr. and Jean P. Sparks of Straits, N.C. She graduated from East Carteret High School in 1984. She later met and married the love of her life of 29 years, the late William “Billy” Freeman. She was unable to have children of her own but gained two beautiful daughters, Jeanette and Lucy that she dearly loved.

Her most precious and the apple of her eye were her beautiful grandchildren, Brandon, Chelsea, “Addy Cakes” and “Love Bug”, and her great grandchildren Rusty and Tommy. She was most known for her gift of cooking, baking, and preparing her delicious meals for her family and friends.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her mother, Jean P. Sparks; daughters, Jeanette F. Scott (Denise) and Lucy Hill (Jason); brothers, Reed A. Sparks Jr., Ron C. Sparks (Julianne); sister, Cindy S. Adams (Steve); grandchildren, Brandon Swain (Amanda), Chelsea Debout (Tyler), Adelaide “Addy Cakes” Jackson and Liam “Love Bug” Jackson; great grandchildren, Rusty Paderick and Tommy Gene Debout; nieces, Hannah S. Sherry (Kevin), Molly S. Simpson (Ryan), Felicia Hartsough (John Wayne), Brittney Fasulo, Rosie Rose; nephews, Chandler Sparks (Katherine), William R. Willis; brother in law, Lennie Freeman; and her best friend, cousin “cuz”, and caregiver, Keenan Lawrence.

In addition to her husband, William M. “Billy” Freeman; Jean was preceded in death by her father, Reed A. Sparks Sr.; her grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
