Jason Todd
Smith
March 25, 1971 – April 3, 2026
Gethsemane Memorial Park
Starts at 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Jason Todd Smith, 55, of Bayboro, North Carolina, formally of Kinston, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center.
A graveside service to honor Jason’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 8th Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport.
Jason was born on March 25, 1971, in Kinston, NC, to Leon “Len” and Patricia “Pat” Smith. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who took great pride in his work as a superintendent in the construction field. He was someone others could count on, known for his strong work ethic and steady presence. Jason loved not just his family and his children but had a special place in his heart for his pets as well.
Jason always had a deep love for music. It was more than just something he enjoyed, it was a part of his everyday life. Whether he was unwinding after a long day or simply passing the time, music brought him comfort and joy. His music accompanied him as he enjoyed passing time sitting on the beach enjoying the warm sunshine and the feeling of the sand beneath his feet. Also, he would enjoy his music as he grilled out, a favorite time of his, grilling good food, drinking a cold beer and having good times with all that would join him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dana Smith; daughters, Ashley Smith of Greenville, NC and Madison Smith of Greenville, NC; son, Hunter Smith of Florida; father, Leon “Len” Smith of Morehead City, NC; sister, Sherrie Rhodes (Ben) of Kinston, NC; nieces and nephews, Alex Killette (Hoyt), Zachary Rhodes, and Meredith Jordan (Buck); and great niece and nephew, Addison Killette and Rowen Killette. Also, his loving pets Gracie Mae and Abra Cadabra.
Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia “Pat” Mayo Smith.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to 4 Paws of Pamlico County.
