Janis Leigh Johns, 62, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home under Hospice care on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
A memorial service to honor Jan’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 19th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Pastor Frank Jarman. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Jan was born in Biloxi, Mississippi and grew up in Gales Creek, North Carolina, where she loved spending time on the water, swimming, boating, digging clams, and running barefoot in the summer sun. She fondly called Carteret County home.
Jan was an avid Duke and Cowboys fan, she also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking special recipes that she learned from her mother Edith.
Jan will be remembered for her love of family and friends and will be missed by many that knew her.
Jan is survived by her husband, Darrell Keith Plumley; daughters, Leigh-Anne Johns of Hubert and Ashley Quinn of Morehead City; brother, James D. Johns Jr. (Anne) of Harkers Island; sister, Nina Nuttall (David) of Swansboro; stepmother, Elizabeth Johns of Swansboro; and four grandchildren.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, James Johns Sr. and Edith Foy Johns, and her son, Frank Winston Quinn III.
