Janice Cheryl Hamilton

Janice Cheryl Hamilton, 72, of Atlantic, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

A memorial service to honor Janice’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 15th at Hunting Quarters Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Wayne Warren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service as well as following the service.

Janice was born on March 22, 1953, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Maurice and Georgia Nelson. She was a devoted member of Hunting Quarter Church in Atlantic, where her faith was an important part of her life. Janice worked for many years as a CNA at Taylor Extended Care in Sea Level and later at the courthouse, keeping everything neat and tidy.

In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, visiting with her family, and spending time down at the banks with her beloved Neil. Janice’s warm smile and caring spirit touched everyone who knew her. May her memory be a treasure to the many lives she touched.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Neil of the home; sons, Richard Whatley of Wilmington, NC and Patrick Fino of Wilmington, NC; sisters, Ethel Gremann of New Bern, NC, Terry Grose of Atlantic, NC, Mary Nelson of Atlantic, NC and Jennifer Godbey of Winston Salem, NC; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her daughters, Tara Tracey and Nikki Ozimok; brother, James Mendelson; and sister, Beverly Scadden.
