James Robert Powell

James Robert Powell, 60, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at WakeMed in Raleigh.

Born on October 4, 1965, in Morehead City, NC, James was the son of the late Robert and Lois Powell. He dedicated his life to his passion for cooking, working as a cook in local restaurants. He always enjoyed sharing delicious meals and new creations with family and friends.

Growing up on the coast, James took advantage of every opportunity to go fishing. He enjoyed watching movies, immersing himself in captivating stories.

However, his greatest joy came from his children, whom he loved deeply. He cherished spending time with them, particularly at concerts, where music brought them closer together. James was always engaged in their daily lives, making it a priority to ensure they knew how special they were.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Hailey Powell of Newport, NC; sister, Karen Powell (Charlie McGregor) of Newport, NC; and extended loving family.
