Obituary

James “Jimmy” Leveridge, 76, of Atlantic Beach, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

A memorial service to honor Jimmy’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 14 at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. David Huffman. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Southern Salt on the Morehead City waterfront. In honor of Jimmy, the family requests family and friends to wear red and white or your favorite golf polo. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.

Jimmy was born on September 14, 1949, in Raleigh, North Carolina, to the late Jack and Lola Leveridge. He was a hardworking, devoted, and generous man whose greatest happiness was the love he shared with his family and friends. Jimmy retired after more than 30 years with Bonitz Commercial Roofing, where he proudly served as manager.

A lifelong sports fan, Jimmy was a member of the Wolfpack Club for more than 50 years and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Wolfpack, holding football and basketball season tickets for many years. He also had a great love for golf and especially enjoyed his weekly standing tee time at Morehead City Country Club.

For 35 years, Jimmy was married to the love of his life, Davie, until her passing following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. His children and grandson Carson were the most important part of his life. He took great pride in being a father and grandfather. He loved traveling, with trips to Florida being among his favorite getaways. Later in life he cherished time spent with his sister, creating special memories together. Jimmy loved everyone and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Michelle Leveridge Shingleton (Chad) of Carolina Beach, N.C., Leah Leveridge of Atlantic Beach, N.C.; sister, Jackie Leveridge Holland of Jacksonville, FL.; grandchild, Carson James Shingleton; brother-in-law, Tat Fearing (Iva) of Newport, N.C.; special friend, Lise Sabiston of Beaufort, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Davie Fearing Leveridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carteret Home Health and Hospice, 3722 Bridges Street, Suite 201, Morehead City, N.C. 28557, or the Alzheimer’s Association Eastern Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Ave. #101, Raleigh, N.C. 27612.
