Jamie McLaughlin Fish, 74, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 2, 2026.
A celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Paul Loftin. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Jamie was born on April 20, 1951, in Washington, DC, to the late James Franklin Fish and Julia Gibbs Fish. An early love of both history and toy soldiers began here, growing into a life-long passion and joy. He soon moved to Louisville, KY, a place that never left his heart and was marked each year with a Derby celebration.
He graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he was a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He went on to graduate from the University of Louisville Law School, and forged his own path by opening his own law practice. Later, he would go on to work on Capitol Hill as counsel, where he met his wife, Nancy Davenport Fish. Jamie ultimately made his home in North Carolina, where he supported the Marines through his work as a business manager at Cherry Point.
Jamie was a truly unique man, and deeply loved by his family. He was a devoted husband of 40 years. As a father, he was a constant presence and gave his children a sense of wonder and strength to stand on their own. He was proud to have been the Team Dad for the Newport Vikings Football team. As a grandfather, he was always mischievous. Throughout his life he always had a special place in his heart for his many four-legged companions.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nancy Davenport Fish; son, Nicholas Davenport Fish (Kristen Larsen), of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Alexandra Fish (Michael Sivley) and their children Eleanor and Henry of Cary, NC; and sister, Joan Conner of Louisville, KY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
