James Maxton Bell
February 10, 1940 — August 31, 2016
James Maxton Bell Sr., 76, of Newport, went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, September 5, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Morehead City.
James was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a 31 year veteran of the Morehead City Fire Department and a longtime member of Morehead City Country Club, where he enjoyed his passion for golf. James was a devoted member of Reece's Chapel Baptist Church.
James is survived by his wife, Geneva Bell; son, Julian Vincent Bell and wife Gayle; daughter, Sherry Bell Barnes; grandchildren, James Maxton Lewis, Randi S. Bell, Channyng Bell, Maxton Bell, Seth Bell and Delaney Bell; great grandsons, Israel Bell and Maxton Bell Jr.; siblings, Mart Bell Jr., Jerry Bell, David Bell, Paul Bell and Reba Green; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mart Bell Sr.; mother, Mary Bell; daughter, Donna Lynn Bell; son, James Maxton Bell Jr.; sisters, Nancy Willis and Jacqueline Widden; brother, John Bell; and great granddaughters, Arrell Bell and Maddison Bell.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
