Jackie Morrison Piner
Hardy
June 12, 1935 — June 22, 2026
Jackie Morrison Piner Hardy, 91, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 22, 2026, following a 3 year courageous battle with a rare blood cancer.
A funeral service, with Eastern Star Rites, to honor Jackie’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 28th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Marty Welch. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Jackie will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Born on June 12, 1935, in Erwin, North Carolina, Jackie was one of eleven children born to the late Malcolm and Jeronia Morrison.
Jackie was known for her impeccable sense of style, graceful presence, and classy demeanor. Those qualities served her well throughout her long career as a beautician, where she combined creativity, talent, and a genuine love for people. More than simply styling hair, Jackie took great pride in helping others look and feel their very best.
Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, Jackie approached life with laughter and never took things too seriously. In her younger years, she enjoyed an active lifestyle that included golfing, tennis, and line dancing. She also loved playing cards, shopping, and finding a great bargain.
Always eager to stay involved and help others, Jackie volunteered with South River EMS in her golden years. She was also a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she formed cherished friendships and faithfully supported the organization's charitable and community efforts.
Jackie embraced adventure and enjoyed a unique chapter of her life living aboard the Miss Jackie boat. She also loved being a snowbird, spending her winters in Florida from Halloween until Easter each year. Whether in Florida or at her beloved home, Jackie's door was always open to family and friends. She delighted in welcoming loved ones into her home, and few things brought her more joy than preparing a delicious meal to share around the table. Above all, Jackie was devoted to her family. She shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, James. She loved her role as "Nannie" and "BB".
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, James Roy Hardy of Morehead City, NC; brother, Tony Morrison of Coats, NC; along with Carolyn Brown (Mike Walton) of Morehead City, NC and her children, Matthew Paylor (Natalie) and Madison Boulanger (husband Matt and their newborn, Dawson); and Evelyn Carraway (Daniel) of Sea Gate, NC and her children, Chris Carraway (wife Kristen and their children, Ashton and Jayden), Nick Carraway, and Sabrina Carraway.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her 6 sisters and 3 brothers.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice with Jackie’s helping spirit in mind.
