Gunnery Sergeant Iyassai M. Young, USMC, Retired, age 53, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, in New Bern, NC, surrounded by loved ones.

A proud United States Marine, he dedicated 29 years to honorable service, embodying courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the United States of America. 

Beyond the uniform, Gunnery Sergeant Young was known for his kind yet humble spirit. Whether mentoring fellow Marines or uplifting family and friends, he led with strength and compassion. 

Gunnery Sergeant Young is survived by his mother Petal Brown, daughter Yuki Violet, sister Ayanna Kelly, brother-in-law Shawn Kelly and two nephews Nicholas and Aaron Kelly, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family of Marines who will carry forward his legacy of resilience, loyalty, and love. Semper Fi, Marine. Your duty is done, but your impact lives on.
