Ingrid Valkyria Linnemeier took her final gasp the morning of July 11th, 2025. Although she didn’t have an easy name, she had an easy smile.
Born January 13th, 1933, in New York City, she left NYC with her parents and headed to Miami, FL as a young teen. She graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1951-ish and soon after moved back to NY because she “hated every minute” in Miami. Ingrid lived with family and worked alongside one of her cousins in the insurance industry. Curiously, she found herself living back in Miami after having her children Ed and Karla and stayed for another 52 years. She left Miami in 2013 and moved to Swansboro, NC to be closer to her daughter and her family.
She was a beautiful woman who took pride in taking care of herself even when the physical limitations made it more and more of a challenge to do so. She loved her family, especially her granddaughters with whom she built rich relationships that gave her much joy. Ingrid was an adventurer. She loved to travel and try new things. She was a creative soul, relishing beauty in all its forms. Her artistic side came through in the different hobbies she pursued throughout her life, including drawing, quilting, and baking. Her key lime pie was a family favorite, and the only kind of key lime pie her Floridian son would eat.
Ingrid was also a fighter, and she fought hard to live her earthly life until the very end. And with a gentle gasp and her daughter by her side she went on to her heavenly home to experience incredible joy in the presence of her Savior, standing straight with no more pain, worry, or struggles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl E. and Carmen M. Stridfeldt, Sr, her husband Hal Simonoff, her husband Wayne Linnemeier, her favorite sister-in-law and best friend, Lottie Stridfeldt, her beloved brother Carl E. Stridfeldt, Jr. and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her son, Edward C. Maurer (Deborah), Dunedin, FL, Karla D. Satterfield (Jeff), Cedar Point, NC, her granddaughters, Kelli A.M. O’Neil and Naomi C. Satterfield (Justin) and a bonus granddaughter, Emma Wiles (Mike) along with a bonus great-granddaughter, Genevieve.
A celebration of Ingrid’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26th at Cape Carteret Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ingrid’s memory to the Cape Carteret Baptist Church – Benevolence Fund, 101 Anita Forte Dr., Cape Carteret, NC 28584.
