Bogue

Rosa “Hurricane” Smallwood, 67, of Bogue, NC passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at her home.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 17th at the VFW Post 9960 in Cedar Point. The family will receive friends following the service.

“Hurricane” was born on July 20, 1956, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Roscoe and Gillie Conway. She was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her love, dedication, and tireless work ethic.

“Hurricane” was a lifetime member of the VFW post 9960 and president of the Ladies Auxiliary for seven different years. As co-owner of Hound-Dog Landscaping, a thriving business, she made lasting connections within the community.

You will never meet another lady as hard-working as she was. Her love for cooking was evident in the many meals she prepared with love. “Hurricane” was a loving wife for over 30 years and was a doting mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, lovingly known as “nanny”.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband of 30 years, “Hound-Dog” Nelson Smallwood of the home; son, Allen “Bubba” Ipock (Lee Willett) of Newport; sisters, Brenda Bibbins of Beaufort, NC, Virginia Domina of Newport, NC, Angela Hunter of Bradley, IL; brothers, Roscoe Conway of Abbeville, LA, Oran Conway of Newport, NC, Larry Conway Sr., of Abbeville, LA, and Robert Conway of Linesville, PA; grandchildren, Coral Lynn Mills, McKaitlyn Ipock, Haley Ipock, and William Vann; great-grandchildren, McKayla “Peanut” Meadows, Carolann “Tater Bug” Daw, and Emma “Mater” Daw; and her precious dog, Lola.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
