Helene Elaine DeGeorge

Helene Elaine DeGeorge, 78, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Caterer Health Care.

Helene was born on January 31, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Harry and Helen Jones.

Helene grew up in Wantagh, New York, and attended Nursing School at Brooklyn Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She retired from nursing at the VA Medical Center in Northport, New York.

She married Fred DeGeorge in 1972. They had two beloved children, Michelle and David. Fred and Helen retired to Morehead City 15 years ago. They enjoyed camping and traveling. Helene was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Michele and her husband Fred.

She is survived by her beloved son, David DeGeorge of Morehead City, NC; her brother, Robert (Bonnie) Jones of Marshallberg, NC; her brother Greg of Greeley, CO; her sister-in-law, Ellen (Dwayne) Smith of Smiths Grove, KY; and her brother-in-law Lou (Karen) DeGeorge of Ebensburg, PA.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
