Harry Donald Rippy, Sr.
July 13, 1938 — March 18, 2017
Harry Donald Rippy, Sr., 78, of Newport passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service for Harry will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Hooper officiating. A brief graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Candler, NC with Pastor Lisa Hannah officiating.
Harry had a passion for hunting, fishing and a love of the sea. He and his wife owned Triple S Pier for over 30 years and in the 70s they owned Big Surf in Atlantic Beach. He had a passion for restoring old boats. He owned a shrimping vessel, the Katie Patrice, that he and his son used to supply the pier with shrimp.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Patrice Rippy; sons, Brandon Rippy, Brian Rippy; sister, Elizabeth Barber; grandchildren, Tiffany Rippy, Harry D. Rippy, III, Adam Rippy, Katie Rippy, Charlotte Rippy, Triston Rippy and Brian Rippy, II; great grandchildren, Camryn Miller, Kinley Rippy, and Kaylee Rippy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Amos Kerr Rippy and Flora Rector Rippy; sons, Harry D. Rippy, Jr., Barry D. Rippy; brother, Larry Ronald Rippy
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home.
