Dr. Harris Lane Evans Sr.

March 13, 1929 — April 15, 2024

Newport

Dr. Harris Lane Evans Sr., 95, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at his home.

Harris was born on March 13, 1929, in Hampton, Virginia, to the late Peter and Myrtle Evans. He dedicated his life to serving his country, first in the United States Air Force and later, after earning his Doctorate, as a respected psychiatrist for over five decades.

With a passion for reading and woodworking, Harris found joy in creating beautiful pieces and immersing himself in a good book. His love for the TV show South Park provided interesting entertainment and he always kept up to date on the hot topics and world views through his favorite news media, Fox News.

Harris cherished the companionship of his dogs, which kept him busy and always provided him with happiness. More than anything, Harris will be remembered as a loving and supportive father to his 5 children and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He valued his family and loved them dearly.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Leslie Strickland (Jonathan) of Milford, OH and Lizabeth Currie (Lee) of Lake Wiley, SC; sons, Harris Lane Evans Jr. (Lori) of Norman, OK, Lincoln Brian Evans (Patsy) of Simpsonville, SC, and Laird Evans (Monica) of Franklinton, NC; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his Poodles, Marjo and Hadrian.

In addition to his parents, Harris was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine King.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.

Arrangements by Munden Funeral Home & Crematory in Morehead City, NC.
