Harold "Johnny" Wayne Johnson

Harold Wayne Johnson, best known as “Johnny”, 77, of Cedar Point NC, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023, at his home.

A memorial service to honor Johnny’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 22, at Peletier Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Michael Blevins will officiate. He will be laid to rest privately at the Peletier Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born on December 4, 1945, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Johnny was the last son of the late Ray and Ethel Johnson. He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served 20 years with distinction. This two tour Vietnam veteran retired at the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

After retirement, he became a carpenter and built many homes on Atlantic beach. Johnny was a faithful member and served as a deacon for many years at Peletier Missionary Baptist Church.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret Johnson of the home; daughter, Tina Cannon of Cedar Point; William Nicky Johnson of Grimesland; granddaughter, Kaylia Mayo of Grimesland; grandson, David Johnson of Greenville; granddaughter, Amanda Johnson of Greenville; granddaughter, Kyrstin Berry of Newport; and grandson, Christian Cannon of Richlands.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peletier Missionary Baptist Church, 1300 Hwy 58, Peletier, NC 28584.
