Harold “Hal” William Clark, 80, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.
A memorial service to honor Hal’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, January 8th at Liberty Church, officiated by Pastor Blake Larson.
Hal was born on June 21, 1945, in New London, Connecticut to the late Harold and Dorothy Clark. He was raised in New Hampshire and Maine before later making his home in the Newport area, where he lived for the past 15 years. Hal proudly served his country in the United States Navy for nine years. His service was a meaningful part of his life and reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment.
Hal was a member of Liberty Church in Havelock, where he felt at home with his church family. In his free time, he enjoyed photography, martial arts, chess, and gaming. Hal was a devoted pet owner and deeply loved his cat, Duke, who brought him companionship and comfort. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sons, David Clark (Krista Michelle) of Burlington, NC and Donald William Clark of Newport, NC; daughter, Lisa Clark of Newport, NC; grandchildren, Justyn William Clark, Jonathon Robert Clark, Amelia Verrill and Thomas Verrill; and great grandchildren, Meliodas and Ember Norris.
In addition to his parents, Hal was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wendy Clark; sons, Mark and Renny Verrill; daughter, Deborah Clark; and brothers, Donald and Jack Clark.
