Burke, Virginia

Gregory Charles Davis, 68, of Burke, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

A graveside service to honor Gregory’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 9th at the Polly Ann Davis Cemetery on Harkers Island, NC, officiated by Joel Hancock.

Gregory was born on August 19, 1955, in Lawton, OK, to Charles and Marilyn Davis. Known for his incredible musical ability, he played the bass guitar with ease and precision. His adventures in sound took him across the US and Europe, performing for small groups of dedicated fans.

Gregory’s creativity and intelligence was evident in all aspects of his life. Whether playing music, illustrating, designing, or learning everything he could about computers, his creations garnered the admiration of many. After coming off the road, he taught himself computer coding, eventually developing computer processing programs still used today. While there were many accolades throughout his life, he would tell you his most cherished role was that of a father.

Those remaining included his devoted son, Dylan Davis of Honolulu, HI; loving mother, Marilyn P. Davis of Burke, VA; and supportive sisters, Angela Dare McKee and husband Bob of Martinsburg, WV, and Charlynn Sholtis of Wilmington, NC.

Gregory was preceded in death by his father, Charles Richard Davis, and brother, Barry Allan Davis.
