Glenwood “Glen” Thomas Riggs

Glenwood “Glen” Thomas Riggs, 68, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Born on December 23, 1957, in Morehead City, Glen was the son of the late Randolph and Gertrude Riggs. He was a hardworking, dependable man who took great pride in his career as a truck driver with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

When he wasn’t on the road, Glen could usually be found outside, mowing his lawn or piddling around with projects. He liked staying busy and working with his hands, finding satisfaction in simple tasks and a job well done.

Above all else, Glen loved his family. He cherished time spent with them and found his greatest joy in being a father and a grandfather. He will be remembered as a loving companion, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather whose quiet strength and steady presence meant more than words can say.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving companion, Cynthia “Cindy” Howell; daughter, Felicia Slaughter (Eric) of Newport, NC; stepsons, Chris Howell and Jeff Howell, both of Abbeville, AL; grandchildren, Tyler Alan Slaughter and Evelynn Dawn Slaughter; and his furry sidekicks, his dogs, Trinket and Tuffy.

Glen was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Wigger.
