Gladys Ocarroll Powell, 77, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Gladys was born on December 12, 1948, in Chocowinity, North Carolina, to the late Joseph and Juanita Ocarroll.

A dedicated educator, Gladys spent many years as a teacher, touching the lives of countless students through her kindness, patience, and commitment to learning.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. A beautiful Christian woman who loved the Lord, Gladys was a devoted member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She found great joy in attending Christian concerts, listening to beach music, and spending time with those she loved.

Above all, Gladys cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. For 41 years, she shared a loving marriage with her beloved husband, Butch, building a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted and loving husband, Butch Powell Jr.; sons, Stephen OKruhlica of Columbia, SC, Michael OKruhlica (Erin) of Tustin, CA, and Phillip OKruhlica (Adrian) of Fort Mohave, AZ; brothers, Phillip Ocarroll of Washington, NC, Lloyd Ocarroll of Virginia, and Jody Ocarroll of Washington, NC; grandchildren, Abigail OKruhlica, Megan OKruhlica, and Lauren OKruhlica; and granddaughter, Ava OKruhlica.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Ocarroll and daughter-in-law, Kathy OKruhlica.
