Gelga Reyes Berti, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, friend, and servant-leader to her community, passed away on June 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends whose lives she touched so deeply. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void, but her legacy of kindness, generosity, and selfless service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Born in Bacolod City Philippines, Gelga Reyes Berti was the cherished daughter of Alexander Labrador Reyes and Josefa Gargar Bayles. She was a loving sister to Jefferson Reyes and Alexander II (Nonoy) Reyes and remained deeply devoted to her family throughout her life.
Gelga was the devoted and loving spouse of Randy Joseph Berti, with whom she shared a life built on faith, love, sacrifice, and unwavering support. Together, they faced life’s challenges as partners, and she was the steadfast source of strength, compassion, and encouragement behind every success and accomplishment. A proud graduate of San Sebastian College – Recoletos de Manila, Gelga carried the values of service and compassion throughout her life. She maintained a special place in her heart for children, particularly orphaned children, and remained an advocate for their care and welfare through her enduring connection to her alma mater.
Gelga lived by a simple but powerful principle: always place the needs of others before her own. Her generosity knew no limits. Whether helping family members, supporting friends in times of need, contributing to charitable causes, or quietly assisting those facing hardship, she gave freely of her time, resources, and love without ever seeking recognition.
Family was the center of Gelga’s world. She loved fiercely, protected those she cared for, and brought people together through her warmth and hospitality. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always ready to welcome another guest.
Within the Fleet Readiness Center East community at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, Gelga became known and loved by countless military members, civilians, and families. She was actively involved in community and command events and was a familiar, caring presence wherever people gathered. Her thoughtfulness often appeared in quiet acts of kindness—bringing meals and treats to security personnel during holiday periods, ensuring they felt remembered while standing watch, and delivering food and encouragement to the Comptroller team during demanding year-end closeouts. These simple gestures reflected the extraordinary generosity that defined her life.
Those who knew Gelga will remember her radiant smile, her compassionate spirit, her unwavering devotion to family, and her remarkable ability to make every person feel valued and loved. She possessed a rare gift for lifting others up, bringing comfort during difficult times, and creating lasting friendships wherever she went.
More than anything, Gelga will be remembered for the love she shared. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friends she embraced, the children she advocated for, and the countless lives she enriched through her kindness, generosity, and selfless service.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains present in every act of compassion, every shared meal, every helping hand, and every expression of love.
“To know Gelga was to experience kindness without condition, generosity without expectation, and love without limits.”
She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and eternally loved.
A Memorial Mass celebrating the life of Gelga Reyes Berti will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Parish in Havelock.
