Obituary

Gary Worth Slaughter, 65, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

A celebration of Gary's life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 24th at the beachside shelter at Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach, NC. The family will receive friends following the service for time of food and fellowship.

Gary was a remarkable man whose life reflected his unwavering faith and deep love for his family. He was a man of strength, grace, and kindness. His beautiful outlook on life, kind heart, and gracious spirit brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him.

Gary took great pride in Slaughter & Sons Construction, the family business he owned and operated alongside his father, Glenn, for many years.

An avid fisherman, Gary loved competing in king mackerel tournaments throughout the Southeast, celebrating many wins. Whether casting a line, relaxing on the beach, walking trails, riding his bike, or creating cherished memories with his grandsons, Gary truly appreciated life's simple pleasures.

Above all else, Gary loved the Lord. His faith was not simply something he spoke about; it was something he lived. He loved sharing God's Word, encouraging others, and speaking about the goodness of Jesus Christ. His relationship with the Lord was the foundation of his life. Through life's greatest challenge, he maintained his gracious spirit and beautiful outlook. Even in his final days, Gary continued to share his faith, give his love, and teach those around him what truly matters.

His family was among his greatest earthly blessings. Gary took pride in being a husband, father, and "Pop Pop." His grandsons held a special place in his heart, and the memories they made together will be treasured forever. His love leaves behind lessons that will continue to shape the lives of those he cherished.

Gary is survived by his wife, Beth Slaughter; his children, April Slaughter, Whitney Finch (Collier), and Chase Slaughter; his beloved grandsons, Tyler Mancini, Holden Adams, and Fisher Finch; his sister, Cindy Smith (Allen); his brother, Larry White; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenwood Slaughter and Doris Slaughter and brother, Terry Slaughter.

His earthly journey may have come to an end, but the love he gave, the faith he shared, and the lessons he taught will never be forgotten.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
