Gail Burdick, 56, of New Bern, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Gail was born on June 25,1969, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Edmund Ferreira and her mother, Loretta Ferreira. A woman of strength, determination, and an unforgettable sense of humor, Gail lived life on her own terms. She loved sharing a joke, telling a story, or simply enjoying time with her family. She always made every get together brighter.

One of her greatest passions was her beloved horse, Midnight. She loved nothing better than horseback riding and took great pride in teaching others about horses and riding. Her love for the outdoors was evident in the countless hours she spent enjoying nature. Gail was a devoted fan of heavy metal music, loved Halloween, and especially enjoyed The Nightmare Before Christmas, which reflected her fun-loving and spirited side.

Family was the center of her world. She loved to cook, always hosting an amazing spread of food at Thanksgiving. Her delicious brown sugar ham became a family favorite, and her Italian dishes were always requested and enjoyed by all. While her absence leaves a tremendous void, her spirit will continue to ride on in every trail, every family gathering, and every cherished memory.

Those left to treasure her memory are her husband, Mark A. Burdick Sr. of the home; mother, Loretta Ferreira of New Bern, N.C.; daughters, Tara Ferreira of New Bern, N.C. , Courtney Ferreira of Harmony, N.C., Samantha Burdick of Lake Wylie, S.C.; son, Mark Burdick Jr. of New Bern, N.C.; sisters, Christine Andrews of New York, Karen O’Leary of Rhode Island, Denise Ferreira of Connecticut; and five precious grandchildren.
