Esther was born on November 7, 1937, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, to the late Johnnie and Virginia Griffin.
Esther was a loving, energetic, and joyful person whose vibrant spirit could brighten any room. She embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed staying active, always mindful of maintaining her health and strength. One of her greatest passions was golf, a love she eagerly shared with those around her. Her husband, Roy, often joked that he was a tennis player until he met Esther, who quickly converted him into a golfer. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Griffin Guinn and her brother, Arnold Griffin.
