Esther Belle Salter Brown, 91, of Broad Creek, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center.
A funeral service to honor Esther’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 9th at Broad Creek Church of God, officiated by Rev. Robbie Strickland. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Esther was born on October 13, 1934, in Broad Creek to the late Arnold Woolgast Salter and Elizabeth Lewis Salter, she spent her life rooted in the community she loved.
Esther was known as a hardworking and dedicated woman who took pride in everything she did. She worked at Cross Creek Apparel for 36 years, serving as a supervisor before retiring. Even after retirement, Esther wasn’t ready to slow down. She was a friendly face at the Guthrie Farm Produce Stand, where she loved talking with customers and making new friends.
In her quiet moments, Esther loved to read and was rarely without a project in her hands. She was a talented seamstress who loved to sew and crochet, often creating beautiful pieces for family and friends.
Above all, Esther was a woman of deep faith. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Broad Creek Church of God for many years. Her servant’s heart led her to also help the women of White Oak Church of God with their catering events, always willing to lend a hand wherever she was needed.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Theresa Hill of Arapahoe, NC; son, Jody Brown of Broad Creek, NC; grandchildren, Shannon Hill of New Jersey and John Michael Hill of Charlotte, NC; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her sisters, Nola Marie Brown, Edna Earl Salter, and Joan Matthews; brother, Bobby Salter; and son-in-law, Johnny Hill.
