Estelle Simmons Lewis, 84, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service to honor Estelle's life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 7th at Broad Creek Church of God, officiated by Rev. Robbie Strickland. Interment will follow at Broad Creek Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Estelle was born on November 8, 1941, in Newport, North Carolina, to the late Hezekiah K. Simmons and Lala Estelle Dickinson Simmons.

Estelle's defining quality was her selfless heart. She always placed the needs of others before her own, willingly making sacrifices to care for those she loved. Her kindness, intelligence, and compassionate spirit were evident in everything she did, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Estelle loved God, her church and her church family.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures, spending her free time crocheting, sewing, baking, and preparing delicious meals for family and friends. She loved working in her garden, where her beautiful roses and vegetables flourished under her tender care. Estelle also had a special fondness for angels, and her treasured collection was seen throughout every room of her home.

Blessed with 68 wonderful years alongside her beloved husband, Ashley, together they raised a beautiful family. She was the heart of her home, a nurturing provider who always made sure her family was cared for. Estelle was the definition of a classic mother, whose timeless love, unwavering devotion, and quiet grace touched everyone who knew her. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense joy, and they will forever cherish the love she poured into their lives, especially the special memories of the milkshakes she lovingly provided just for them.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Plymouth Ashley Lewis; daughter, Michelle Lee Lewis of Newport, NC; son, Robert Ashley Lewis of Newport, NC; grandchildren, Robert Ashley Lewis Jr. (Holly) of Havelock, NC, Ryan Trey Lewis (Courtney) of New Bern, NC, Noah Benjamin Lewis of Pilot Mountain, NC, Autumn Shea Ruth Lewis-Wittine (Tristen) of Hubert, NC, Evan Cole Lewis of Pilot Mountain, NC, and Matthew Cooper Lee of Newport, NC; great-grandchildren, Asher, Amari, Cadence, Callie, Landon, Bentley, and Mariella Estelle; her special cousin and friend, Elsie; and her fur baby, faithful companion, the boss of the home, her dog, Ginger.

In addition to her parents, Estelle was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Kelly; brother, Dallas "Sam" Simmons; son-in-law, Clifton Lee; great-grandson, Angelo; and many loving fur babies, including Angel and Gigi.
