Eric "Jr" Gillikin Jr., 58, of Otway, NC, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
In accordance with Eric's wishes, the family will celebrate his life privately.
Born on January 18, 1965, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Eric and Anneliese "Ann" Gillikin, Eric was a friendly soul who was quite entertaining with his quick wit and great sense of sarcasm.
Eric's extensive experience and expertise in firefighting, emergency management, and leadership were displayed in his position as Fire Chief in Otway and later as Assistant Chief in Marshallberg. His dedication and skill were a true asset to the communities he served.
Eric later embarked on a career as a Composite Worker at Cherry Point for 15 years. Eric's dedication to his work and his commitment to excellence made him a respected co-worker and friend.
Eric was a devoted father to his cherished daughter, Leticia G. Adams, and grandfather to his pride and joy, Ethan Adams, both of Morehead City. He loved them dearly and always prioritized spending quality time with them. Eric's love and guidance will forever be treasured by those who knew him.
Eric is also survived by his sisters, Marion Acker (John) of Nevada and Judy Trigleth of Otway; brothers, Ralph Gillikin (Cathy) of Goldsboro, and Michael Gillikin Sr. of Greenville, SC; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Eric was preceded in death by his brother, Andy Gillikin.
