Emma Miller Gentry

Emma Miller Gentry, 92, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Emma will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Born on May 28, 1933, in Hertford, North Carolina, Emma was the daughter of the late William and Margurette Miller. She was a devoted Christian woman, deeply committed to her faith, and cherished her relationship with the Lord. She was a long-time member of Grace Baptist Church and was currently a member of Community Baptist Church.

Emma will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family will hold her memory close, feeling her absence dearly.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are her daughter, Kimberly Braswell (Elbert) of Newport; son, Gary Gentry (Phyllis) of Morehead City; sister, Barbara Oyler and husband Robert “Bob” of St. Paul, NC; grandchildren, Courtney Braswell (Michael) and Shane Braswell (Megan); and great-grandchildren, Lance Parker, Malachi Braswell, and Stephen Braswell.

In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Marion “Jack” Gentry.
