Ellen Marie Rasmussen, 94, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Embassy of Morehead City.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Washington State.

Ellen was born on March 13, 1932, in Enumclaw, Washington, to the late Knud and Margaret Bruhn. She was a woman who embraced life to the fullest. Whether she was out on the water fishing- even at the remarkable age of 92- or tending to her garden and quilting in those quiet times she found much happiness in the world around her. Ellen was an avid birdwatcher and especially loved spotting cardinals, often seeing them as little reminders of beauty and grace. She was a proud member of the Enumclaw Danish sisterhood. During her childhood she was raised on a farm and farming was an important part of her life. She has a large farm in South Dakota that is still thriving today.

She had a loving and gentle sweetness that touched many lives. Ellen had a radiant smile that could light up a room. She was quite the baker; her specialties were her banana bread and homemade cookies which her family and friends loved. Ellen's life was rooted deeply in her unwavering faith. Her relationship with God was the foundation of everything she did. May she be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts she touched.

Those left to treasure her memory are her daughters, Linda Brown and Ruth Beligotti (Danny); stepdaughters, Delores Andrusky and Diann Christey (Bob); son, Greg Brown (Shelly); stepson, Dale Rasmussen (Barb); and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Kai Rasmussen and her daughter Diane Brown.
