Obituary

Elizabeth "Lib" Fleming, 102, of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Lib will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport. Details regarding her memorial and graveside services will be announced once arrangements have been finalized. The family anticipates holding the service in the fall of 2026.

Lib was born on April 23, 1924, in Augustus County, Virginia, to the late Oscar G. Furr Sr. and Ethel Bradley Furr. Raised in Virginia, Lib later moved to North Carolina in the early fifties where she spent the rest of her life. Lib worked in the hotel and travel industry, spending many years on Bogue Banks Island.

She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City and the Country Club of the Crystal Coast in Pine Knoll Shores. She served on the Board of Martha's Mission for many years, A sports enthusiast, Lib enjoyed bowling, tennis, and golf. She was also an avid Bridge player.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Douglas S. Fleming and his long-term companion, Virginia Thompson; 5 nieces; 1 nephew; 2 great nieces; 7 great nephews; 2 great-great nieces; and 3 great-great nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lib was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Fleming and siblings.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1604 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557, or Martha's Mission, 901 Bay Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
